The MALT1/IGH Dual Fusion FISH Probe is intended for use to detect t(18;14)(q21;q32) rearrangements involving the human MALT1 and IGH genes located on chromosome bands 18q21.32 and 14q32.33, respectively.
Background
MALT (mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue) lymphomas comprise 7.6% of all B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma’s (NHLs). Up to 50% of the MALT lymphoma cases demonstrate MALT1 rearrangements. T(18;14)(q21;q32) involving MALT1 and IGH is a common chromosomal aberration in MALT lymphoma. The translocation leads to the overexpression of MALT1 gene resulting in constitutive activation of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) which controls the expression of numerous anti-apoptotic, cell survival- and proliferation-promoting genes. Rearrangement of MALT1 and IGH gene has been observed in B-cell lymphomas and other malignancies.
