The CDKN2C/CKS1B FISH Probe Kit is intended for use to detect amplifications/gains involving the human CDKN2C located on chromosome band 1p32.3 and CKS1B genes on chromosome band 1q21.3-q22.
Background
CDKN2C is a tumor suppressor gene responsible for inducing apoptotic cell death and DNA fragmentation. Abnormalities in CDKN2C at 1p32.3 occur in around 16% of human multiple myeloma (MM) and are associated with poor survival. Overexpression of the CKS1B gene up-regulates cell cycle progression resulting in a more proliferative disease. Gain of the 1q21 region including CKSIB is one of the most common chromosomal aberrations seen in MM and is associated with an aggressive clinical course and disease relapse.
